Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs

Dr. Doug Hallenbeck was appointed vice president of student affairs at Oklahoma State University in December 2018.  Prior to coming to Oklahoma State University, he spent 4 years as senior associate vice president at Clemson University and 12 years overall within the Division of Student Affairs at Clemson.

Dr. Hallenbeck went to Clemson after serving as the director of Residence Life and Student Housing at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas from 2003 to 2006. His last year, he added the title of assistant vice president for Student Affairs.

Hallenbeck rose through the housing ranks at the University of Florida and Oklahoma State University. He was residence director for two living communities from 1993 to 1996 in Gainesville. He then served as residence hall coordinator (1996-1998) and assistant director of Residential Life (1998-2003) in Stillwater.

Hallenbeck is an active member of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) and has been involved in various leadership positions within the Association of College and University Housing Officers (ACUHO-I) as well.

Hallenbeck earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Georgia College in July 1991 and a master’s degree in counselor education from Mississippi State University in May 1993. He added a doctorate in applied behavioral studies from Oklahoma State in December 2002.

Following in the footsteps of his father, Hallenbeck is a second-generation Student Affairs and housing professional. An avid runner and guitar enthusiast, he has three children: Sydney (24), Ainsley (21) and McKinley (17).

 

Kathryn Gage

Dr. Kathryn Gage serves as Executive Director for Student Affairs.  She oversees the division’s assessment program, manages the Leadership OSU mentor program, and serves as the institutional representative for former foster youth.  Dr. Gage directs various grant programs for the division, and serves as liaison to the Center for Sovereign Nations.   She is an adjunct faculty member in the College of Education, Health and Aviation.  Dr. Gage serves as a peer corps reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission.

Student Union

The OSU Student Union is a comprehensive system of people, services, programs and facilities that enrich the intellectual, cultural and social well-being of the OSU student. Since 1950 the OSU Student Union has become the place where life happens on the OSU campus.  With a facility consisting of more than 630,000 square feet, it stands as the largest and most comprehensive union in the world.  It provides the university with such services as the University Store (textbooks, OSU merchandise, and technology center), retail shops, banking services, a campus post office, 10 University Dining Services restaurants, lounges, meeting rooms and hotel.

Department of Leadership and Campus Life

The Department of Leadership & Campus Life is home to more than 500 student organizations, promoting student leadership and engagement.  The CampusLink program, found online at http://campuslink.okstate.edu , provides a way to connect with a diverse array of student organizations by providing information about individual student and student organization involvement, as well as registration for official leadership and service transcripts (the Student Development Transcript). Leadership & Campus Life is also home to Allied Arts / Special Events, the Center for Ethical Leadership, Fraternity & Sorority Affairs, International Students & Scholars, Non-Traditional Student Services, Parent & Family Relations, Service-Leaning Volunteer Center, and Student Union Programs.

University Dining Services

University Dining Services supports the wellbeing of students, faculty and staff by providing quality food at 32 unique dining options including national franchises, local favorites, coffee shops, and convenience stores at 10 locations across campus.  Early morning to late night service hours provide flexibility and convenience.  UDS offers meal plans for students, faculty, and staff that are easy to use and are accepted at all locations on campus.  UDS emphasizes healthy dining, promoting nutrition education and awareness through healthy dining education campaigns, cooking demonstrations, and nutritional labeling food options on campus.  The department's Choose Orange program takes the guesswork out of making healthier choices.  UDS also provides full line of catering services through Celebrations Catering.

Housing and Residential Life

Housing and Residential Life supports the success of residential students.  Nearly 7,000 students call the OSU campus home.  Housing and Residential Life provides active communities that promote a student’s personal and academic well-being.  Twenty-six residence halls and seven family and graduate apartment neighborhoods provide options to fit everyone’s needs.  The Residence Hall Association, Living-Learning Communities, Academic Development Center, Residential Leadership College and Family Resource Center comprise some of the programs and organizations that support student success.  Hall Government Associations offer students a chance to help govern their communities and make decisions that will benefit their fellow residents.  At Oklahoma State, residence halls offer an engaging community where students can make friends for a lifetime.

University Counseling Services

University Counseling Services is composed of the ADA Compliance Office, Alcohol and Substance Abuse Center, Reboot Center, Student Counseling Center, and Student Disability Services.  Efforts are made to maximize opportunities for students to benefit from academic experiences both in and out of the classroom.  It is a goal of these offices to help make the environment beneficial to the intellectual, emotional and physical development of students.

Career Services

Every year, hundreds of employers from across the country, representing a wide range of industries and organizations, recruit at Oklahoma State University in search of their future leaders.  The OSU Career Services department is also a comprehensive career planning and employment center for students and alumni.  Career Services provides resources to assist students with their career development and job preparation needs, as well as providing comprehensive referral / interview services through the Hire System.  Student seeking part-time jobs while attending OSU, internships for the summer, or full-time employment after graduation can find assistance in the job search process, and for all career development needs.

University Health Services

University Health Services (UHS) provides the students at Oklahoma State University with outpatient medical care, preventative medicine, and educational opportunities.  UHS is an outpatient ambulatory care facility designed to provide cost effective, physician directed health care and health information for personal health care consultation, treatment or intervention.  Services include primary care medical services, allergy clinic, pharmacy, medical laboratory and x-ray, sports medicine, international travel assessment and consultation, and women’s clinic.

Department of Wellness

The Department of Wellness is committed to creating a healthy campus culture for students, faculty and staff.  Five facilities, including the Colvin Recreation Center, Colvin Center Annex, Seretean Wellness Center, Aquatics, and Camp Redlands, are home to a myriad of programs and services.  Group fitness classes, Intramural Sports, Outdoor Adventure, and Sports Clubs are among the services offered.  Programs include the Employee Assistance Program, Health Risk Assessment, Personal Training and Swim Lessons.

Student Conduct Education and Administration

Student Conduct Education and Administration (SCEA) contacts and meets with students to assess situations of possible non-academic misconduct as outlines in the Student Code of Conduct. SCEA offers education, challenge and support to students who may be struggling with behavioral issues in an effort to help these students succeed at the university. SCEA is dedicated to promoting a safe, respectful and supportive living and learning environment that promotes the intellectual, personal, cultural and ethical development of our students. SCEA also facilitates victim services and the 1 is 2 Many campaign, operates the Back on TRAC alcohol and drug treatment program, and provides outreach, training and consultation to the university community.
